After battling the pricks over at Gamestop I escaped with a copy of Mario Strikers Charged, the sequel to the fun-yet-somewhat-shallow Gamecube title Super Mario Strikers. Many have written this game off, claiming it to be a mere clone of its predecessor with added waggle (because we all LOVE waggle!). After spending a hefty amount of time with the game I can safely say that Charged goes above and beyond what its prequel offered.
Mario Strikers is Nintendo’s take on the sport the rest of the world knows as football, and the US knows as ’soccer’. Take FIFA, then lose all the clubs, big names, franchises, detailed control scheme and realistic pitch. Then replace it all with the familiar Mushroom Kingdom cast, Mario Kart-type weapons, a metallic ball and absolute mayhem. And there you have it, Mario Strikers Charged. (more…)
