Julie lives with The Wild underneath the bed in her room. The Wild (the area in which all fairy tals exist) must be contained and only her mom, aka Rapunzel, can do it. All the fairy tale creatures escaped from The Wild 500 years ago and have been living happily ever after….in the real world. Then, someone makes a wish and suddenly The Wild is eating up the town where Julie lives and forcing everyone back into their fairy tale roles (whish is not as fun as it sounds). Can Julie save the day, find her dad, and prove she does belong somewhere?
This is a cute fractured fairytale. The storyline is well thought out and interesting. I had a few problems with the fact that they never really discussed/ developed the story of the person who made the wish to set The Wild free. That was a bit annoying and made me feel like Durst was leaving the book open to write some sequels. But it was well done for a first novel. I can definitely see the talent in the writer, but I think she still needs to work on fleshing out some parts.
We found a great deal at Childrens Book Club and got 5 childrens books for only $2.
