Well, Folks,
It seems that my ambitious plans for the summer got reversed on me. My principal, for reasons that I am still scratching my head about, would not approve my tutoring/computer camp plans for our teachers. Just like Harry K. Wong says in his book, The First Days of School: How to Be an Effective Teacher, “For your happiness and effectiveness, accept in your own mind and heart that you can live and perform comfortably with the district’s role for you” (Wong, 2005, p. 22). So, if you are given lemons, make lemonade! (Anon.)
So I got busy and attended 24 credit hours of classes at our school district that were required of all our Technology Liaisons (that’s what I’ll be doing this school year, as well as teaching technology to Kindergarten through 4th graders). And I started my last quarter of my Masters degree courses, finishing on October 2, 2007! And I mapped out my curriculum for my technology classes, followed by detailed Lesson Plans. I feel great! My next step is to send an email to the teachers at my school to bring them up to date like I have in this Blog.
Speaking of my Masters degree studies, I am pleased to tell you that Kaplan University’s Online Master of Arts in Teaching and Learning (Technology Integration Emphasis: http://www.kaplan.edu/ ) has changed me in wonderful ways. Besides marrying my husband nearly 18 years ago, and bringing home Bear, my Yellow Lab Mix puppy, from the Animal Shelter four years ago, beginning my masters degree program was the best decision I have made in years!
