It was not until 1963 that an organized study of Hoodia Gordonii wasperformed. Scientists at the Council for Scientific and IndustrialResearch in South Africa reported that laboratory animals which werefed on the Hoodia plant lost weight. The Gordonii plant requires extremely hightemperatures to flourish and it takes four to five years to mature.Phytopharm is now working with Uni-lever and has established HoodiaGordonii plantations in South Africa.

The length of time toexperience the appetite suppressing effects may occur quickly, evenfollowing the first dose, but some people do not notice a significantdifference until after taking the supplement for several weeks.
