Split Screen

Things have been busy lately. You know the story: work, a lively social life, a surprise visit from Mom … Also, I am headed on a fabo vacation with friends (including D!) in a few days. Excitement effervesces, though I think most of the thrill is derived from actually going on vacation.

Tonight it’s a movie with D, which I look forward to. Traveler is fading from the picture. The mature thing, I suppose, would be to just let him know (verbally) that this isn’t working out. I just hate doing that over the phone, which is really the only option since we live two hours apart. I called him yesterday (because he’d asked me to call on Sunday but I’d been too busy) but he was too engrossed in a basketball game to say much. Perhaps he’s gotten the hint?

Last night I dreamed my ex called me. I saw his name on caller ID and answered anyway. In the dream, it was like I was watching a movie–a split screen scene where Character a&v smiled on the handset in the upper left of the screen and Character Ex grinned dorkily into his handset on the lower right. (Oh, ex! So dorky and If I remember right, he wanted us to meet up. I suppose this is my subconscious wondering what the guy is up to these days (we were together a year ago now). In my waking life, there might be some vague curiosity, but honestly my life has progressed in ways it never would have if we’d stayed together. So. Au revoir.
