Some friends and I are planning a getaway in a couple of weeks - we’re taking a road trip to Jacksonville, FL to hear Beth Moore’s weekend conference. Woo-hoo, we can hardly wait! We’ve done so many of her Bible studies, have read many of her devotional books and journals (one of which I’m working my way through now) and always learn so much from her teachings. We’ll learn a lot and go deeper with God while we’re gone, but another big plus to the trip is just hanging out with each other. Yes, our cars will be full of non-stop chatter all the way down the road, anytime we’re there when Beth isn’t teaching, and all the way back home. We’ll probably stay up half the night yakking, too. And you know what? It’ll be so much fun because we’ll be there together. Doesn’t being with your friends make nearly everything better? You might enjoy going somewhere by yourself, but the fun is multiplied when you have a group of friends tagging along - especially when they’re your Christian friends.
Where do you like to go and hang out with your friends? Do you hit the mall or go get something to eat? Do you get outside and play sports together? Do you work your way through massive amounts of pizza or popcorn while you’re watching movies? Whatever you do, hold on to those times. And even when dating and want to go out with your boyfriend, be sure to still make time for your girlfriends. Nothing in this world can take their place - even when you’re grown up like my friends and I are. Thank God today for those beautiful people in your life and do what you can to help your friendship grow.
