On Tuesday Lunarpages announced that they were holding a second contest for anyone, even non clients to submit their WordPress themes in a contest and the winner will win 5 years of free web hosting and $1000 cash prize. The event will feature WordPress themes on the lunar blog each week for 5 weeks and the themes are then voted on. The theme submission ends on 6-22-08 so if you want to join the contest get your themes in by then.
Other web hosting news this week included a Welsh government web site which was hacked so that the hackers could install a malicious JavaScript which mirrors the vicitimized pages of the Trend Micro (trendmicro.com) website.
DemoWolf the online video tutorial series company which caters to the web hosting community announced this week that they were launching the DemoWolf Reseller Program which is designed to allow other companies to resell video tutorials. The DemoWolf program actually works more like an affiliate program where customers are referred to DemoWolf and the clients get a discount and the referring company take a cut of the overall sale.
There were several April Fools pranks this year including one which irritated Parallels (Parallels.com), the company which recently purchased Modernbill. An announcement was made on the 1st announcing that Parallels was being purchased by Sun (Sun.com) for an estimated $205mm. The fake media announcement was met with scorn by CEO Serguei Beloussov of Parallels.
