Online Movie Rental Choices are finally becoming reality in 2008.
Blockbuster.com is now offering online movie rentals through mail, just like NetFlix has. Blockbuster started out with an online movie rental service where a movie renter picked out movies through Blockbuster’s website, but they still had to go to the physical store to pick up the film. This blockbuster test program was done in a few cities throughout America, including Boulder/Denver where I had chance to try it out.
That Blockbuster online movie rental test fell flat. They ended the program in 2003 and it’s now 2008 and their push for online movie rentals NetFlix style is really ramping up.
Right now they’ve offering the same online movie rental account startup incentives as Netflix: 30 days for free, no obligation. Just prior to that they’ve had 15 days free or 50% off the first month. They’re really going after the Netflix market and will likely give them a run for their money.
