So last night I picked up a copy of ‘The Diet’ by Bob Greene.  For those of you who are unfamiliar with him, Bob Greene is an Excercise Physiologist, and was the one to help Oprah Winfrey lose all her weight and start living a more healthy lifestyle.

The thing that I like most diet is that its simple.  Its not gimicky and it doesn’t tell you to starve yourself or deny yourself things.  He recognizes that denying yourself things will only lead to binging.

I’ve only just started reading, so I won’t even try to fully explain his plan, but simple lifestyle changes like not eating after 7:30 at night and making sure to have 3 balanced meals (with correct proportions) and three small snacks throughout the day to fight hunger and keep my metabolism going sound like good starting points for me.

I haven’t had soda in almost 72 hours, opting instead for water, although I did have grapefruit juice when I went out for brunch yesterday with my mom.

Today was a bit of a challange, I was too busy at work today to eat a real lunch, so I had a bottle of water and the healthiest thing I could find in the vending machine a Three Musketeer’s bar (45% less fat and calories than the other snacks) so that was a bit of a let-down, but that just means that I’ll need to work extra hard tomorrow and maybe not valet the car and walk a few blocks in my high heels when we go to the theater tomorrow to get that extra bit of excercise.

So no pounds lost so far, but I think I’m taking some steps in the right direction.
