I updated to WSNLinks Alpha 5 today. Ran into several errors that made it pretty much unusable. It is alpha though, so that is to be expected. Reverted back about 10 minutes ago and all is back to normal. I really would like to use the alpha for phpbb3 integration, but that doesn’t appear to be fully functional yet either. I reported all of the bugs I encountered and hopefully Paul will take a look at it soon. If the bugs I reported are fixed for Alpha 6, I will likely be trying another upgrade.
The main reason for testing the alpha is because I need to upgrade Forums.ModemHelp.Net to phpbb3. However my copy of WSNLinks on Portal.ModemHelp.Net is integrated with the copy of phpbb2 on Forums. The current release of WSNLinks does not support phpbb3 integration, but the next version will, hence the need for the alpha.
I can’t really release this website until those are upgraded as I need to upgrade to php5 in order for MediaWiki to be installed. What I may end up doing is just adding some modifications to phpbb2 in order for it to work under php5 as an interim solution. I’d really like to upgrade to phpbb3 though for better Spam control, among other reasons.
I wasn’t impressed with Network Solutions and their hosting. Domain names are fine with Netsol, but for hosting, I wouldn’t touch them with a 10 foot pole. Read my complete Network Solutions review.
