Web Designers and developers often need inspiration when beginning a layout for a new design project. I’ve selected some of my favorite websites offering free WordPress Themes and CSS Layouts from my bookmarks to share with you. There is something for everyone here, all professional looking and created by top designers.
A lot of work goes into creating these designs so please be sure to read the license when downloading and give credit to the designer. If there is a website that should be added here, feel free to leave a comment.
Professional Looking Free WordPress Themes
- DarkZen. Provided by DailyBloggingTips.com, This theme is advertising and widget ready, includes social bookmarking icons, has a customizable sidebar, and is search engine optimizated. Very nice, professional and clean.
- iThemes and 1800blogger have partnered to release eight WordPress themes to the WordPress community. These themes are widget-ready, search engine optimized and ready for download now. The themes available are Finance, Freedom, Healthcare, Personal, Political Orange and Blue, Social and Sports Themes. Something for everyone. Grab the 8-Pack here. P.S. I included this as one as all are included in one .zip file.
- Revolution Blog WordPress Theme. Clean and elegant looking, this theme is available in 2 and 3 column versions. Plus it is widget ready. Very, very nice. Brian Gardner does great WP theme work. If you like the free version, be sure to check out his premium Revolution themes.
- Rebel Magazine is 2 column theme, widget-ready, with banner ad banner ad integration. The theme has the look of a magazine and would be perfect for a news blogs. Very nice!
- Statement is a clean and professional looking WordPress theme created for blogs such as education, science, culture, books etc. The theme is WordPress 2.5 ready with gallery functions enabled. Especially notable is the tabbed box in the upper right hand corner. Well done!
Free Professional CSS Website offers a collection of quality free CSS-based website templates. You’ll find two and three column templates, all of which are easy to customize to your liking. All of the templates found here are valid XHTML(strict) and valid CSS, and distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 License. There are 24 templates available. Very professional Here you’ll find a nice collection of CSS templates, all are W3C standards compliant and valid (XHTML Strict). There are 299 templates All templates here are FREE, tableless, W3C-compliant web design layouts designed by Template World designers. The source files are not included but if you contact them, they will email you the Photoshop .psd files for free. What a great deal!
Mitchell Bryson. If you simply need a basic CSS template to start your next project, you’ll find the layout you need here. Theses layouts do not have any design elements whatsoever, just the basic html structure and basic stylesheet contained within an empty folder structure to build on.
Open Web Design and Open Designs both offer designs from many website designers. Open Designs has 900 free designs and Open Web Design has a total of 3235 designs. That’s quite a bit of inspiration for web designers.
