I’m finally starting this blog tonight. Lucky you. I’m exhausted right now. Don’t ask me why I keep putting this off.

Well, I have been on this new “lifestyle change,” for about 13 weeks I’m still not really sure how it happened. One day, after years and years of trying, I decided that I was sick of the way I was living my life. And so I purchased a Weight Watchers kit online from ebay. 31.2lbs later the rest is history. The Weight Watcher’s food journal that came with my starter kit was 12 weeks long. The first entry is much different from the last. Still, I have a long way to go with a laundry list of habits I still would like to break. At first the 12 week journal seemed daunting. In the back of my mind, I never thought I would make it. Now that I’m on week 13, I feel as though I’m beginning to sabotage myself. I’ve been eating more calories, and cheating on my points. This is the first time I’ve done this since being on the WW program. I can feel myself slowly slipping back into my old ways, and it’s scaring me. As soon as I hit day one of week 13, I bought a bunch of junk that otherwise would never have made its way in to the apartment. I bought Focaccia, which I’ve already polished off, and 100 calorie snack packs. I’ve managed to eat 500 calories in “snack” packs during the last 2 days. I know this is because I’m rewarding myself with food. I can hear the words in my mind over and over like a mantra, “You’ve lost weight. You finished the first food journal. Eat those extra calories. Eat those sweets. You deserve it.” Talk about self-sabotage. I’m determined to not let this be my downfall. I’ve worked hard, and tomorrow I’m going to do my best to get back on track.

In the meantime, I’d like to share one BIG positive in my life. I joined a gym - for a year! Yikes! I can’t even believe it myself. I decided that if I was still just as serious about exercise at the end of week 12 as I was on week 1 I’d join the gym 2 miles from our home. I’ve been a member for 2 weeks- 3 weeks total with the free trial period. I’ve been going six times a week mostly using the elliptical, treadmill, and free weights. On my first day I used the treadmill for 20 minutes with a speed of 2.5, and the elliptical for 10 minutes. Now I’m using the treadmill for 60 minutes on 3.3 and the elliptical for 32 minutes. The intensity on both machines (aka incline) have both been significantly raised too. My goal is to be able to run on the treadmill by Christmas and be doing at least 45 minutes high intensity on the elliptical. I was able to run on the treadmill the other day around 4.7, but only for 2-3 minutes before I had to drop the speed back down. In the end, I’m very pleased with what I’ve accomplished so far, and the fact I’ve actually been going everyday. I even plan on getting a good workout in tomorrow morning before we head down to Orlando for a DCI tournament. You better believe 3 months ago, that was NEVER an option for me.
