If you’re the average person on a diet, then you’ve experienced times where you fall off the diet wagon and succumb to the many temptations in your daily life. It’s all too easy to be tempted by advertisements of the juicy hamburgers so perfectly put together and just waiting for you to order them.

The ads are designed to suggest to us that we need a candy bar, we need that value meal, we need that ice cream, and we need that greasy, cheesy pizza. And if you aren’t careful you can blow your daily caloric allotment in one sitting. Oh the joys of advertising!

Sometimes it is not as easy as barricading yourself inside and never watching TV again; this isn’t a realistic solution to the situation. You have to be stronger than your cravings and steadfast to your commitment to your health

By remembering that the ads are designed to sway and tempt you to splurge, the food never tastes quite as good as it looks. Who enjoys a lukewarm, smashed up burger with a bun that is soaked in grease? Somehow it just kind of kills the desire to gorge myself on fast food.

Ask that the waitress leave the sauces on the side, hold the bacon, no extra cheese or fancy creamy gravies, nothing that is going to sabotage your diet. You are paying for your food, so get it as you want it.

If you want to give your diet a chance, you have to order the food and take it home. Getting away from the fast food environment and go home and eat. Doing so is just one way to ensure you are only going to eat a certain amount of fast food and that’s it.

If you use the drive through, you aren’t in the midst of the sights, sounds and most importantly the “smells” of a fast food place. We know it’s impossible to pass up fries, so we use the drive through and drive on home and away from the fries.

Deliveries - If a restaurant delivers, use it to your advantage. You can plan what you want and order it without having to go to the establishment to see all of the tempting pictures on the wall. If they don’t deliver, ask someone else to go get your food for you.

Sometimes a little extra money spent on convenience can be a good thing. It can keep you far away from the temptation that may make you falter. It’s hard to say no to all the goodies at our disposal, however if we avoid certain situations we may be able to prevent falling off the diet wagon.
